Compliance Audit Committee
The Compliance Audit Committee receives and makes decisions on applications for compliance audits of campaign finances for Council candidates and registered third party advertisers in a municipal election and to considers reports from the City Clerk citing apparent contraventions to contribution limits.
The Committee's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing applications and granting or rejecting audit requests
- Where an audit is granted, they will appoint an auditor and review the auditor's report
- Determine if it is necessary to commence legal proceedings
Committee members are impartial and apply the election campaign provisions of the Municipal Election Act, 1996.
