Employment Opportunities

The City of Peterborough is accepting employment applications on an ongoing basis for staff to assist with the election on October 22, 2018.

The following positions will be filled:

Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)

  • Issues ballots and strikes electors from the voters list.
  • Responsible for conducting a fair voting process at the Voting Location.
  • May be called on to respond to questions from electors who are not familiar with municipal election practices.
  • All tasks will be using electronic forms/lists on a computer.  Must be comfortable with technology.

Revision Deputy Returning Officer (RDRO)

  • The Revision Deputy Returning Officer adds or modifies elector information. 
  • Issues ballots to electors and strikes them from the voters list. 
  • All tasks will be using electronic forms/lists on a computer.  Must be comfortable with technology.

Voting Clerk

  • Provides teams of DROs or RDROs with the appropriate face to give to the elector.
  • No technology skills are required.​

Greeter

  • The Greeter has first contact with the elector.
  • Responsible for ensuring the proper flow of traffic into and out of the Voting Location.
  • Greeters positioned in school hallways shall ensure that electors are going directly to the room used for the election and not straying into other areas of the school
  • No technology skills required.

Tabulator Deputy Returning Officer (TDRO)

  • Responsible for the operation of the Vote Tabulator, which includes feeding the ballots into the vote tabulator and troubleshooting blank, misread, overvoted, and ambiguous ballots.
  • All tasks will be using electronic forms/lists on a computer.
  • Must be comfortable with technology.​

Training will take place at the end of September and applicants must be ​available to work on Election Day and for the half day of training.
